Manchester to Hull Sponsored Cycle Ride

Story

Thanks for sponsoring us on the bike ride. As you may of heard we did it, but not without some incidents along the way. The ride started from the house where I was born. There were many friends and family there to set us on our way, but perhaps the most bizarre was the fact that an old friend who I had not seen for 30 years took it upon himself to escort us for the first few miles in his 4x4 with his windows wide open playing chariots of fire at full volume. After the nostalgic visits to where Lynne was born and the first house Lynne and I bought, we joined the Trans Pennine Trial. The first part of the trail is along the canal of Manchester. After rescuing one of our team who had fallen in the canal, fixing six punctures, mending one broken chain and losing two Iphones, some 41/2 hours later we finally left Manchester for the climb over the Pennines. Whilst we all saw the funny side of day one we hoped day two wouldn’t be quite as eventful. Our hopes for a quiet day didn’t last long as one of our riders accidently knocked a glass shelf at the breakfast buffet bar which then shattered over the freshly prepared food, the chef wasn’t too happy! We finished our ride in bright sunshine at Hull Golf Club with a welcoming group with a few pints waiting for us. The ride was just as I hoped it would be, great friendship, outrageous fun and we have raised a huge sum of money. A huge thank you to those who joined me along the way and to you for sponsoring us.
